Running a household together while each keeping your own accounts. Existing apps showed either everything or nothing of the other person, and none showed in advance whether our goals were realistic. So I built one myself.

What I built
- Bank accounts connected
Balances and transactions come in automatically through open banking. Read-only, never payments. - Privacy per account
Per account you choose: shared, totals only, or private. The database enforces it, not just the screen. - Plan, pots and goals
A monthly plan, pots for what we’re saving for, and a forecast that shows when we’ll get there. - An assistant that does the maths
Ask Nolo whether that trip fits. The assistant works with the numbers in the app.
01The overview
At the top, the balance of our joint account and what still has to go out this month. Below it, what needs attention, like transactions without a category or a bank connection about to expire. Together and Just me switch between the household and your own accounts.
02The plan
Every euro of income gets a destination. On the left you see whether this phase’s goal will be met, on the right what still needs transferring this month. Nolo ticks off what’s already done by itself.
03Pots and goals
Every pot shows how far along it is and when it will be full at the current pace. If something falls behind, it says so right away. We track investments ourselves, with the monthly deposits.
04Transactions
Everything coming in and going out, filtered by account, person and category. From an account that shares totals only, you just see amounts per category. When a category is missing, Nolo suggests one.
05Projections
What if we carry on like this? Nolo runs the plan over ten or twenty years, with the return you choose. The assumptions are always shown, so you know where the numbers come from.
06Light and dark
Nolo follows your device setting, or you choose. Every screen comes in both versions.
On your phone too
We mostly use Nolo on our phones: a quick check whether there’s room in the budget, or asking the assistant something on the go.
